Welcome Message (VC)

I am delighted to welcome you to the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC), the premier university for media, arts and communication training in Ghana.

The University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) was established by the University of Media, Arts and Communication Act, Act 1059 of 2020. This merged the Ghana Institute of Journalism, established in 1959, the National Film and Television Institute, established in 1978 and the Ghana Institute of Languages, established in 1961, into one public university.

At UniMAC, our highly motivated lecturers provide industry-tailored and practical training to students who enroll in the fields of communication, language, and film studies. You can choose from coursework in journalism, public relations, advertising, marketing, modern languages, translation as well as film arts.

Our quest is to ensure that the students we produce at all levels gain a theoretical understanding and practical exposure that situate them perfectly in the ever-expanding opportunities in the world of work.

Our MPhil and MA Programmes are unique to UniMAC and focus on the expressed needs of industry. We still continue with our efforts at building capacity and will soon offer PhD programmes.

We will continue to grow our research power, attract increasing number of postgraduates, strengthen our international influence through global partnerships to enhance the quality of academic and extra-curricular student experience and expand our capacity and capability by investing in new facilities and technologies.

I invite you to come to UniMAC. Become a part of this unique institution that guarantees you the best training for a bright future in today’s thriving media and exciting communication environment.

Professor Kwansah-Aidoo
