OMANHENE OF NEW JUABEN TRADITIONAL AREA TO ATTEND 2024 GHANA MONTH DURBAR AT UniMAC-IJ

The Omanhene of the New Juaben Traditional Area, Daasebre Nana Kwaku Boateng III will attend the UniMAC-IJ 2024 Ghana month durbar as a special guest of honour. Daasebre Nana Kwaku Boateng III made this known when a delegation from the Department of the Integrated Social Sciences (DISS) of the Faculty of Integrated Communication Studies (FICS) in the Institute of Journalism paid a courtesy call on him in Koforidua on the 1st of November 2023.

Dr Kodwo Ansong Boateng, Head of the Department of Integrated Social Sciences led the delegation of lecturers and students of DISS. The delegation extended a special invitation to Daasebre as a distinguished guest of honour at the Ghana Month grand durbar scheduled for March 2024 to crown the Ghana Month celebrations.

Ghana Month celebration is an initiative of the Department of the Integrated Social Sciences dedicated to promoting Ghanaian culture among the University community. The month-long celebration will present a unique opportunity for staff and students to showcase diverse Ghanaian traditional apparel and to display rich Ghanaian values, among other things. Ghana Month celebration was introduced in March 2023 under the auspices of the Social Anthropology Unit of the Department of Integrated Social Sciences.

Organizers of the Ghana Month celebration say the special invitation extended to the Daasebre Nana Kwaku Boateng III was in recognition of his legacy of championing youth development and promoting Ghanaian values, particularly among young people, which aligns with the vision of the Ghana Month project. Other distinguished Ghanaians and traditional leaders are expected to attend the 2024 Ghana Month Durbar.
