GIJ EXTENDS SOLIDARITY TO THE LEBANESE COMMUNITY IN GHANA

The Rector of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, Prof Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo visited the Lebanese Embassy last Monday, August 10th, to sign a book of condolence and also light a sympathy candle as Lebanon mourns the death of hundreds of her citizens in the explosion that took place on Tuesday,  August 4, 2020.

The Rector, on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Staff and students of GIJ expressed his deepest sympathies to the Embassy, the entire Lebanese Community in Ghana and the Country of  Lebanon during this period of mourning. He also personally called for prayers for the Lebanese people while encouraging the Ambassador and the families of those who lost their lives and the injured in the disaster to remain steadfast and have faith that the Good Lord will see them through this difficult period.

He said the gesture both represents and exemplifies the Institute’s long-standing relationship with the Embassy and the  Lebanese community who have been a key partner in education, providing scholarship support for a number of exceptional but financially challenged students at the undergraduate and graduate levels at GIJ since 2013.
