BUSINESS IDEA PRESENTATIONS KICKSTART GIJ’S ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT FAIR

The Department of Integrated Marketing at the Ghana Institute of Journalism has commenced preparation for its maiden Entrepreneurship Development Fair with a Business Idea Presentation among the Level 200 students.

The Business Idea Presentation is an innovative drive that seeks to foster entrepreneurship and innovation culture at the Ghana Institute of Journalism through project-based learning that supports creative thinking, and business creation.

Mr. Nii Nookwei Tackie, a Lecturer at the department, initiated the program to push a pragmatic pedagogy to the entrepreneurship course and further provide students with a chance to execute the theory taught in class.

Through commendations and critiques, the feasibility of business ideas presented by the various groups were screened by  judges. The groups were directed to think beyond their projects and address their tasks as a brand-building activity to enhance and create employment in the country.  

The Touch Land, MEGA, Spotless, The Brainstormers, Ahwene Pa fashion were among the many groups that presented ideas in areas such as fashion, technology, agriculture, and education industry.

The offerings of these businesses will be displayed at the first Entrepreneurship Development Fair which is yet to be rolled out at the institute.

The 3-day presentation which took place at the Institute’s Seminar Room had in attendance experienced personalities who served as judges and guides to the participants as they presented their business ideas. These personalities included Maame Efua Sackitey – Williams, Senior Manager, Head Broker Work Group, Hollard Insurance Company, Mr. Harrison Ahorgba, VP Sales and Distribution, InvestCorp, Dr. Mrs Mavis Essandoh, Dean of Faculty of Public Relations, GIJ, Dr. George Asamoah, Head of Department of Integrated Marketing, Advertising and Marketing, GIJ and Ms. Benedicta Nyame, Head of Marketing and Business Development Unit, GIJ. Others were Mr. Bright Senanu, Lecturer, GIJ, Mr. Daniel Machator, Head of Public Affairs Unit, GIJ, and Mr. Lloyd Owusu Appiah, Innobiz Consult.
