DIRECTOR OF SAFETY AT GNFS PAYS COURTESY CALL ON RECTOR

The Director of Safety of the Ghana National Fire Service, DCFO. Obeng Dankwa Dwamena, on Wednesday 31st March, 2021, paid a courtesy call on the Rector, Prof. Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo, at his office in Dzorwulu.

Receiving DCFO. Dwamena at the Dzorwulu Campus of the Institute, the Rector expressed his appreciation for the gesture and mentioned that the Management of the Ghana Institute of Journalism will embrace inputs from the Fire Service to ensure utmost safety at the new facility to protect the heavy investment made on the campus. “The Management of the Institute is prepared to partner the Ghana National Fire Service in developing disaster response policies to ensure the safety of life and property”, Prof. Kwansah Aidoo indicated.

DCFO. Dwamena on his part stated that he was impressed with the safety measures the Institute had in place at the facility. He made particular mention of the staircases and fire extinguishers and implored the Rector to work at ensuring their proper maintenance. “The Institute has to take steps to ensure that staff, especially security guards, receive proper training in the use of fire extinguishers as they are the first point of call during disasters”, he stated.

 

DCFO. Dwamena mentioned that safety was a shared responsibility and suggested that, going forward, Management considers setting up a Fire Service post within the Institute to ensure timeous interventions during disasters. He was thankful to the Rector for the warm reception accorded him.
