Welcome to the Faculty of Public Relations, Advertising, and Integrated Marketing of the Ghana Institute of Journalism. I deem it an honor to be serving and providing leadership for one of the most vibrant Faculties in Ghana at this very opportune time when the Faculty is experiencing a positive upsurge in terms of teaching strength and innovative programmes that are in high demand on the job market and industry.
The Faculty was established in January 2011 and became fully operational in August of the same year. Before this time, it was only a department that runs alongside other departments in the Institute.
Currently, the Faculty can boast of academics who have long years of experience in industry practices, and consequently, our students benefit from a combination of knowledge in academic research and corporate experience.
The Faculty has three departments – Department of Public Relations, Department of Advertising, and Department of Integrated Marketing. These three departments are tasked with developing, revamping, and teaching courses, organising lectures, seminars, simulation exercises as well as field trips to boost students’ appreciation of course contents and how they apply in the world of work.
The Faculty is committed to making our students industry-ready through our innovative development of programmes to meet the exigencies of the changing times. In doing so, the Faculty duly appreciates the fact that the corporate world is ever-evolving and becoming more and more sophisticated. We are thus, constantly harnessing information technologically and the most acceptable pedagogics to prepare our graduates to meet the ever-changing demands of the industry. We hope to continually expand our research base and capacity to provide deep insights into occurrences within the Public Relations, Advertising, and Marketing communication space to imbibe in our graduates a deeper understanding of current events and trends as they occur and shape the corporate world.
