On behalf of members, I warmly welcome you to the Faculty of Journalism and Media Studies, where we communicate with ink, sound and audio. The faculty offers opportunity for aspiring journalists to obtain excellent training, making them marketable in the media industry.

This task is executed in practice and in theory under the tutelage of very committed and selfless staff endowed with rich experience both in academia and industry. We offer various courses in journalism, notably, broadcast and print news writing, radio and television production, investigative and court reporting, feature writing, new media, media law and ethics, multimedia and photo journalism, and media management, all under our Diploma and Bachelor Degree programs. Also, the faculty runs a one-year Masters in Journalism (MAJN) and Media Management (MAMM) programs which attract high patronage from people in industry and academia.

Plans are far advanced for the faculty to introduce three specialised Bachelor of Arts (BA) Programs: Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Politics, Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Sports and, Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Economics. All the programs are under two departments, namely Journalism and Media Studies Department, headed by Mrs. Diana Heymann – Adu and Mr. Henry Kojo Bonsu Owu respectively.

We are proud to indicate that our faculty is the oldest in this great university, and indeed, the bedrock on which this premier media and communication training institution was established.

Your affiliation brings us joy and innovation to help promote effective teaching and learning of journalism towards the attainment of professionalism in the trade. We encourage you to see this faculty, not only as your academic hub, but also a home of comfort within a larger community of learning.

I wish to state that we are hospitable, friendly and a very supportive faculty.

Akwaaba!
