DR. MODESTUS FOSU DONATES TO RICHARD MCMILLAN LIBRARY

Dr. Modestus Fosu, Dean of the Faculty of Integrated Communication Sciences, has donated two/2 copies of the book “Teaching Media Policy in Africa; a handbook for educators” to the Richard McMillan Library of the Institute.

Dr. Fosu noted that his desire to contribute to the academic world and to the University community propelled him to acquire the books during his visit to the Wits Centre of Journalism at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. He further mentioned that it was time the Institute invested in literature published for Africans by Africans as they painted a better picture of the African educational landscape and industry. “The Institute should explore avenues to fund the writing of textbooks by faculty and staff as that would boost the promotion of instructional materials tailored for the African space” he stated.

The Deputy Rector, Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah on his part stated that, the move will serve as motivation to faculty and staff to emulate as it was a service to community. “Dr. Fosu’s gesture is service to the university community, a quintessential component in lecturer assessment for promotion” he said.

Dr. James Asante, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and Media Studies, speaking during the event noted that Dr. Fosu’s donation was a step in the right direction. He appealed to colleagues not to hesitate to buy materials they find beneficial to the Institute during their travels.
