Mrs. Emelia Naa Kwantsua Agyei-Mensah, an Alumna of the Ghana Institute of Journalism has been appointed as the Registrar for the University of Ghana.
Mrs Agyei Mensah gained admission to the Ghana Institute of Journalism and graduated with a Diploma in Journalism with distinction in 1986 after she successfully completed her ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level examinations in Achimota and Mpraeso Secondary School respectively.
She won a Norwegian government scholarship after her National Service at the then National Youth Organizing Commission to study at the University of Bergen in Norway. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Studies in 1993 and a Master of Philosophy degree also in Communication studies in 1996.
Until her appointment as Registrar, Mrs Agyei Mensah has gone through the mill in terms of university administration since she first joined the University of Ghana in 1999 as a Junior Assistant Registrar. She was upgraded to the rank of Assistant Registrar in 2000, Senior Assistant Registrar in 2006, and Deputy Registrar in 2014.
She has held positions in the Public Affairs Directorate, the Academic Affairs Directorate, and as the College Secretary of the College of Education.
Mrs. Emelia Naa Kwantsua Agyei-Mensah becomes the ninth and second female Registrar of the University of Ghana.
