Dr. Solace D. Yawa Asafo

Lecturer

Dr. Solace D. Yawa Asafo is a lecturer at the Faculty of Journalism & Media Studies of the Ghana Institute of Journalism who holds a PhD in African Studies from the University of Ghana and an MPhil in Communication Studies also from the same university.

She brings to her teaching and research her practical experience and knowledge in media, public policy communications, organisational communications and church communication. Her research interests  lie in the area of  communication and children, organisational communications, journalism, gender and culture. She has also consulted for the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee (IMCC) on Decentralisation, Seventh-day Adventist Church, Water Resources Commission, Land Use Planning and Management Project and Maple Consult.

Dr. Asafo started her career as an intern in the Directorate of Public Relations, Ghana Armed Forces in 1998. She was the Public Relations Manager for the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), and a Parliamentary research assistant of the Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG). Between 2007-2010 she taught on part-time at the Ghana Institute of Journalism and the then School of Communication Studies of the University of Ghana.
