Lecturer
Noel Nutsugah is a Lecturer at the Department of Public Relations in the Faculty of Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing, University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC). His teaching experiences within higher education institutions span over eight (8) years.
He is also a PR and media practitioner with over 14 years of progressive and all-around experience in broadcasting and PR consultancy, having worked with different media houses and several PR agencies both in Ghana and abroad, with a short stint at DW Akademie based in Germany. He was also the editor-in-chief of the Youth Newsroom for the World Press Freedom Day celebration in Accra in 2018.
In PR, Noel has consulted for several local and multinational brands in Ghana, including Diageo Ghana, the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, the Ministry of Information, Vivahealth Medical Foundation, and AHOY Africa. These industry experiences allow him to demonstrate a collaborative teaching philosophy hinged on practical lessons and trendy issues within the industry.
He is a former member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), a current member of the Communication Educators Association of Ghana (CEAG), and an accredited member of the Institute of Public Relations Ghana (IPR).
He has in-depth experience in areas such as PR and visibility strategy, issues and crisis communication, stakeholder mapping and engagement, media relations and monitoring, internal communication, social media and website content management, copywriting, and event public relations.
What is more, Noel is pursuing his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Marketing at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), where he is inquiring into Brand Communities and their implications for Marketing and PR practices in Ghana. He holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Communication and Media Studies (Business Communication option) from the University of Education, Winneba, and a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Corporate Communications and Public Relations from the University of Leeds, England. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Communication Studies from the Ghana Institute of Journalism, where he graduated summa cum laude, winning the coveted award as the overall best student in his graduating year.
To his credit, Noel has several publications in credible academic journals, including the Public Relations Review (published by Elsevier) and the Annals of the International Communication Association (published by Taylor and Francis).
He is a very articulate and effective communicator who is guided by the principles of team support and innovation and encourages a conversational atmosphere wherever he finds himself.
He has been described by his professional colleagues as an objective team player, time-conscious, confident, progressive, supportive, and inspirational. He hopes to instigate a positive change of thoughts among his students and colleagues in implementing the vision and overall goals of UniMAC.
